DR. DANG VU TRAN - General Practitioner

Dr Dang Vu Tran is the Principal General Practitioner and founder of Medlife Family Medical Centre, established in 2006. He is dedicated to providing comprehensive, evidence-based, and compassionate healthcare for individuals and families throughout Sydney's South-West.

Dr Tran grew up in Western Sydney after arriving in Australia as a child with his family following the Vietnam War. His father was a military officer in the former Republic of South Vietnam, and the family migrated to Australia as political refugees after the fall of Saigon. He completed his secondary education in Sydney before graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Sydney.

Following postgraduate medical training, Dr Tran became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). He has continued to pursue advanced professional education with postgraduate qualifications in musculoskeletal and sports medicine, dermatology, skin cancer medicine, and medical acupuncture.

Dr Tran is a Fellow of the Australian Medical Acupuncture College (FAMAC) and has a special interest in integrating evidence-based medical acupuncture into the management of chronic musculoskeletal pain and selected medical conditions. His practice incorporates Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles using body acupuncture, auricular therapy (ear seeds and ear acupuncture), and low-level laser acupuncture where clinically appropriate.

He has also completed the Professional Diploma of Musculoskeletal and Sports Medicine, which has strengthened his expertise in the diagnosis and management of osteoarthritis, tendinopathies, neck and back pain, sports injuries, rehabilitation, and chronic musculoskeletal disorders. This advanced training has reinforced the importance of early diagnosis, lifestyle modification, exercise therapy, and conservative management to improve long-term patient outcomes.

In addition, Dr Tran has a strong interest in dermatology and skin cancer medicine. He has completed postgraduate qualifications in dermatology and skin cancer medicine and is committed to the early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of skin cancer, helping patients reduce their risk through regular skin examinations and sun protection education.

Since establishing Medlife Family Medical Centre in 2006, Dr Tran has built a modern, GP-owned, family-oriented medical practice serving the multicultural communities of South-West Sydney. The practice is fully accredited by the Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL) and offers comprehensive, patient-centred healthcare within a welcoming, modern, and predominantly bulk-billing environment.

Our Philosophy - Prevention Is Better Than Cure. At Medlife Family Medical Centre, we believe that prevention is better than cure. Our focus is on proactive, patient-centred healthcare through early detection, preventive medicine, and evidence-based management to help patients live healthier, happier, and more active lives.

We provide comprehensive preventive healthcare, including cardiovascular, renal and metabolic health screening, skin cancer screening and regular skin checks, musculoskeletal assessment, injury prevention and rehabilitation, and evidence-based medical acupuncture as an adjunct treatment for selected musculoskeletal conditions. We also emphasise health promotion, lifestyle counselling, and chronic disease prevention, supporting patients to reduce their future health risks while maintaining long-term wellbeing and quality of life.

Dr Tran enjoys the diversity and continuity of general practice, caring for patients of all ages through every stage of life. He values building long-term relationships with patients and their families and believes that the best healthcare combines clinical excellence with compassion, trust, education, and shared decision-making.

His mission is to provide high-quality, personalised healthcare by integrating modern evidence-based medicine with carefully selected complementary therapies where appropriate, always placing patient safety, scientific evidence, and individual needs at the centre of care.

Our goal is simple - to help you and your family achieve a happier, healthier future through prevention, early diagnosis, comprehensive medical care, and ongoing support.
